Carmen Gutierrez is not new to Horizons: she was a member of the team from 2008-2013 and is back after a nine-year hiatus. Her drive to keep on helping Horizons students and their families is fueled by the impact she saw with some of Horizons graduates.

Carmen has lived in Indonesia and most recently spent eight years in Kenya where she became an entrepreneur. She has taught Spanish at Key Elementary School and Phoebe Hearst School but her passion brings her back to serve. She sits on the board of All Hallows Guild and holds a Bachelors of Arts from Maryland University and a Masters Degree in Spanish in Latin American Studies from American University.

Carmen loves to be around family and friends and in her free time enjoys gardening, running, and traveling.
