Mary Alas

Mary Alas is a DC native and an alum of Horizons Greater Washington. Since finishing the program as a student in 2017, Mary has returned to take on supporting roles such as volunteer classroom assistant, program support staff, and program assistant at the Maret site. Now, Mary is serving as Horizons’ AmeriCorps VISTA for the 2022-2023 year and will be focusing on alumni engagement, sharing high school resources, and supporting their fellow alumni through the path of college and career exploration.

During their free time, Mary enjoys exploring hobbies such as art, music and cooking, with a focus on DJing and veganizing Salvadoran recipes. Mary is excited and honored to be working with Horizons and is using this experience to broaden their horizons and apply for college with hopes to continue in the non-profit field.
